Silence > Noise
We often tend to get lost in the busyness of life—the loss, grief, loneliness, rejection, competition, jealousy, and all of the things. Busyness slowly becomes a habitual lifestyle, a constant flow from day to day as we try to stay occupied in mind, body, and soul. Over time, busyness becomes the noise we amplify instead of the silence we are meant to embrace.
I often wonder why we play gospel music while we scroll. Why do we need constant sound to remain focused on the presence of God? Even while we are in His presence, it seems we are programmed to keep talking. In reality, there are moments when our silence before Him is more effective than speaking anything aloud. It is in those moments that He can minister to us deeply—removing the noise and silencing the perpetual doorbells rung by masquerading intruders: distractions, demands, and unrest.
When Jesus comes, silence follows. A peace that surpasses all understanding sweeps through our bones and hovers over our hearts. It lingers so deeply that the parts of us that once sang the loudest have no choice but to change their chorus to hallelujah. It becomes a David ministering to a troubled Saul moment (1 Samuel 16:23). When I reflect on this scripture, I see a depiction of Jesus soothing our troubled hearts with His presence. The harp represents our hearts—and once Jesus reaches the heart, He can move through our emotions, our thoughts, and every inner place until everything comes into alignment and submission to the matchless love of God.
My prayer today is that we would truly understand that life is not about how much we can produce or what we can “get out of” this or that. Rather, it is about resting in and embracing our God, who anticipates hearing and feeling the very breath we breathe.
Father, help us to understand that it is not about noise. Noise does not equate to productivity; more often, it becomes a distraction. But silence births recognition and revelation of a benevolent God. You are worthy of our stillness. In the stillness, You whisper Your deepest secrets to Your friends and cause us to be fruitful. In the coming year, I pray that we will embrace stillness even while the world shouts noise. May we whisper silence and stillness—and become more effective. Silence is our weapon.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10

The verse he's been carrying me through and asking of me these past several months. By far one of the greatest challenges this season. We often want to control every situation because its so silent, but sometimes stillness is what he asks of us 🙌🏽 great post sis. Glory always to God 🤍
